On a glorious first day of the year the challenge match between the New Captain Geoff Cox and the 2012 Captain Steve Edwards ended in a victory for the new incumbent. Although the match ended 4-3 the result was never in doubt as the four of the first five matches all went the way of the winners.
The first meeting of the VACS Trophy took place at Vila Sol on Monday 3rd December. It was a glorious Sunny Day and the event was extremely successful. Everyone enjoyed meeting players from the Pestana Courses and made new friends. Many thanks to all the SDM Ladies who played. It was unfortunate that due to illness Alto had only 7 ladies and S.D.M. had 9 ladies but thanks to Vila Sol and Carvoeiro Club who had a few reserves we were able to make up the numbers.
Week three of Dave Brennan's coaching scheme saw the keen students gathered around the putting green to improve their chipping, and later into the bunker to practice a range of bunker shots.
The next instalment of the coaching programme is being held on Wednesday the 5th December at Silves. We will meet on the putting green at 3 o’clock.
There were scenes of devestation in Lagoa today Friday 16th November as during monumental thunderstorms a tornado caused massive localised damage as it passed within metres of a supermarket and filling station.

The First Meeting of the VACS trophy is to be held at Vila Sol Golf Club on Monday 3rd December. 10 Ladies representing Alto, Carvoeiro Club, Vila Sol and Serra de Monchique will play an individual Stableford and their score will count towards the overall team score over four venues.
