Club President Steve Edwards

This year's competition saw 88 SdM members fighting for the Presidents Trophy. On a day that thankfully remained dry there were many stories of good scores. The winners will be announced at the Presentation ceremony later this week and will appear here soon after.

The Beginners/Get Back to Cycling Ride went well yesterday. Despite the high winds and rain the night before, the weather in the morning was perfect for cycling. The group enjoyed a leisurely ride of approximately 15km starting from the Clubhouse and stopping for coffee half way round at Poço Barreto, then ending up back at the Clubhouse. All agreed that it was something they would like to do more regularly, so hopefully there will be more rides in the future. Please let any of us know if you would like to join us next time. We are also looking for more people who would like to cycle at a slower pace and keep to the shorter distances.

For the statistitions amongst you here are the final figures for this seasons player performances.

Happy faces at Vale do Lobo despite the result

SdM's final match, away to Vale do Lobo, ending a hugely successful season was a slightly disappointing 4-1 loss. VdL are involved in a very tight battle between three clubs for the second and third place promotion spots so it was no surprise then that they fought very hard with much determination. First group out for example were Jimmy Cruz and Steve Edwards who had 4 birdies in 15 holes and were beaten comprehensively 5&3.

Second match home saw Jeff Lamb and Les Smith win superbly 7&6, otherwise there were similar stories to the first match. Congratulations to VdL and we wish them well in their quest for promotion.
